What To Expect

Are you new to yoga or stand up paddle boarding? Don't worry, no experience is needed and all levels are welcome.

Stand-Up Paddle Board or SUP Yoga is a fun way to incorporate yoga while enjoying Cheat Lake.  Cheat Lake is just 15 minutes outside of Morgantown, WV.  

We launch from a private residence across from Coopers Rock State Forrest that has direct access to the lake.  The classes are offered before peak boating hours to minimize the extra waves.  Before we hit the water, we go over all of the basics of paddle boarding and the proper technique while on the board. 

 

Once we're ready to go the adventure begins and each SUP yogi is loaded onto the paddle board.  As a group we will paddle the 600 feet across Cheat Lake to our desired location.  This location offers a quiet setting with the waterfall at the bottom of Quarry Run as our backdrop. 

 

Now the fun starts by anchoring each SUP yogi so they have space during the practice.  Once we're anchored the practice begins.

 

We start by making a connection with our breath and all of our surroundings.  The breeze on your face, the birds chirping, the waterfall flowing, and all that being on the water offers.  

 

The yoga class offers a similar flow to Vinyasa class but at a slower pace.  There are lots of options, some students prefer to complete the entire practice on their knees.  

 

We take time in the yoga class to play with inversions and other tricks.  This is where the majority of the falling in the water happens.  Is falling in really that bad though?  The water is nice and warm!  

 

Students enjoy the scenery and the challenge of a yoga class on a moving paddle board.  The yoga class reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously, it's fun and light hearted.  All levels welcome!

The paddleboard, life jacket, and anchor are all provided as part of the class.  If you would like to bring your own paddleboard please let me know.
